Community Fair
For the first time in 2010, the Clintonville Homes Tour will highlight the good work of Clintonville non-profit organizations in the form of a “Community Fair”, along the Tour route at the corner of Montrose Way and Irving Way West. Participating organizations will share information with interested Tour guests, helping us to connect Clintonville residents with opportunities to make a difference in our community.
To engage our neighbors in the Clintonville Community Fund’s grant making process, each Tour guest will be given a wooden token along with their Tour ticket. Guests will be asked to drop their token into the jar of the charity of their choice at the Clintonville Community Fund table. Each token represents a $1 donation, and the Clintonville Community Fund will match each donation 100%, making each worth $2. The Clintonville Community Fund will also make an additional $100 donation to each non-profit organization just for participating.
The Clintonville Community Fund anticipates distributing between $1,500 and $2,500 through this collaborative process. However, the Fund would still work with the homeowners and volunteers of this years Tour on a specific project of their choosing. Beginning in 2009, CCF directed a portion of the proceeds from the Clintonville Homes Tour to a project chosen by homeowners who volunteered their homes that year. By partnering with Tour participants, a meaningful project was accomplished for the betterment of Clintonville. This collaborative initiative will be continued in 2010 through the process detailed below.
Grant Making Process
- Tour organizers and the CCF will make public a Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit ideas for projects that may be funded from the proceeds of this year’s tour.
- The CCF will review the grant applications. The best six applications will be chosen and projects will be funded based on homeowner and CCF input.
- Tour organizers and homeowners will be notified of the project that will be funded. Projects to be funded by tour proceeds will be listed in the promotional materials and programs, if possible.
- Grant recipients will agree to a project timeline and will notify the CCF upon project completion.
Grant Request Format
Groups eligible to apply for grants will be affiliated with the Clintonville area, whose services directly benefit a broad segment of the community. Grant requests must be submitted in a one-page format, using the headings listed below.
- Brief description of the project;
- Benefits of the project to the community;
- Estimated costs/budget for the project;
- Estimated timeline for project completion; and,
- Plans for how the project will be carried out.
Grant recipients must be an IRS 501(c)(3) entity or have a fiscal sponsor. Grants are not provided to religious or church groups. However, the Clintonville Community Fund does promote the ideas of individuals and may serve as a fiscal agent for unincorporated organizations conducting charitable activities. In this case, a signed contract and proper documentation for reimbursement must be received.
